I enjoy Henning Mankell's Wallender series - both in print and on TV. Leif Lindblom's on screen portrayal of the Swedish detective, Kurt Wallander, closely matches the print version. This is a good story no matter how familiar you are with the books or the other TV versions of Wallander.
